In Brooklyn, Mike walked us through the tension between settling for what feels good and stepping into what God is actually inviting us into, something greater. Through Saul in 1 Samuel 13 and Saul who becomes Paul in Acts 9, we see two different responses to God. God is not just calling us to believe in Him, but to be filled, empowered, and willing to move when He speaks.
Saul’s story shows how easy it is to take control when things feel uncertain. Under pressure, he chose what seemed right instead of what God asked, and in doing so missed what God had for him. God is not looking for performance, He is looking for obedience that trusts His timing and His way.
Paul’s story shows a different response, where one encounter with Jesus shifts everything. His personality stays the same, but his direction changes as he immediately steps into what God is doing. One simple yes can open doors and create impact far beyond what you can see.
Ephesians 3 shows that we are strengthened by His Spirit, rooted in His love, and called to step out in faith. These work together, and when one is missing, we often feel stuck or stagnant. The Holy Spirit is what fuels our lives so we can actually live in the fullness of what God has for us.
God’s Great Requires Letting Go of Control
Living in God’s great requires surrender and a willingness to release control. Fear keeps us holding onto what feels safe, but faith allows us to step into what we cannot fully see. God is able to do far more than we imagine, but it starts with trusting Him in the next step.
