To Be Continued

Brooklyn Message Audio

"When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance." Acts 2:1-4

Jesus' story was never meant to end with His resurrection and ascension. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, He empowered ordinary people to continue the work He began. In Acts 2, we see that the Holy Spirit works both personally and powerfully, uniquely equipping each of us, uniting us together, guiding us with peace, and sending us out on mission. The church is built when everyday people choose to live Spirit-filled lives wherever God has placed them.

1. The Holy Spirit is Uniquely Individual

When the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, He didn't simply fill a room. He rested on each person individually. God has uniquely designed every person with specific gifts, passions, experiences, and opportunities to reach people that no one else can. The Holy Spirit empowers what God has already placed inside of us and gives us fresh purpose to use it for His Kingdom.

2. The Holy Spirit is Collectively Complete

While the Holy Spirit works individually, He never leaves us isolated.

The church is a body made up of many different people, personalities, and callings. Each person has a role to play, and when we come together under one mission, something beautiful is built. The Holy Spirit helps us work together in unity, even when our differences create friction.

3. The Holy Spirit is a Guide to Peace

One way we recognize the Holy Spirit at work is through peace.

Following the Spirit doesn't mean life becomes easy or free from challenges. It means that even in difficult conversations, hard decisions, and uncertain seasons, there is an underlying peace that reminds us God is with us. Peace becomes a marker that we are walking in step with Him.

4. The Holy Spirit is On Mission

At Pentecost, people from every nation heard the good news in their own language. Where Babel created division, the Holy Spirit created unity. God is still on mission today, and He chooses to work through ordinary people in ordinary places. The Holy Spirit wasn't given only for Sunday gatherings but for Monday workplaces, neighborhood conversations, classrooms, and city streets.
