“How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them.Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty. His righteousness never fails. He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!”
Psalms 111:2-4
In times of waiting, I find the last thing I want to do is look back and reflect. I want to know the next thing and make moves for the future. But these verses actually encourage me to “ponder…” and “remember…”. And in this pondering and remembering, I have no choice but to see His righteousness and faithfulness. I have no choice but to see His grace and mercy towards me. And how faithful He still is in the present.
In a recent prayer conversation with God, I was once again asking Him about the future. FYI: when God wants to convict you and make sure you hear Him, He will! So I heard Him tell me to look back on the last chunk of years and reflect on His faithfulness to me. I remembered a time of deep desperation, but He met me there. My reliance on Him and His timing grew tenfold in that season. He got me to New York in a way that revealed His glory. He got me into a community that revealed His kindness. He got me into a home that revealed His wonderful works. And in this remembering, I am actually encouraged and energized for how He is going to move next. I find myself yearning to get back to that place of deep reliance on Him.
Verse 2 says, “All who delight in Him should ponder them…”. So in my delighting in Him, I rediscover I am exactly where He wants me to be, and that’s enough. He was faithful before and He will be faithful again. His faithfulness is steadfast and true. If my life is just a reflection of His majesty and glory, then what a great life that is! If my life is just a testimony to His great and wonderful works, then I am content and filled.

God, thank you for being faithful and righteous. Thank you for your wonderful works that are perfect in their timing. Let my life be a reflection of your glory. Let your glory be magnified through me, each and every day. You have never failed and you never will. I will carry this truth with me and remember all you have done for me. May my heart be filled with gratitude and love for you today. Amen!
